Florentino Mendoza, Jr.

Florentino Mendoza, Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to his eternal rest on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 92.

He was born in Calaveras, Texas to Margarita (Games) and Florentino Mendoza

Florentino was a World War II veteran having proudly served in the United States Army. He attended and graduated from the University of Texas Austin in 1951 with a pharmacy degree. He worked for Walgreens and retired after 34 years of service as a pharmacist.

He enjoyed landscaping and gardening and loved to travel with his grandchildren.

Florentino was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Guadalupe Mendoza; two sons, Florentino Mendoza, III and Dr. William Mendoza; and a sister, Lucy Gonzales.

He leaves behind to cherish their memories his sister, Lydia Mendoza of Orange Grove, Texas; his three children, Gloria (Louis – deceased) Ramirez of San Antonio, Texas; Patrick (Cooky) Mendoza of San Antonio, Texas; and Mike (Lourdes) Mendoza of San Antonio, Texas; also his twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild who affectionately called him “GP”; as well as his daughter-in-law, Evangelina Mendoza of Kingsville, Texas.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hilda Vasquez-Mandujano, for her loving care of their beloved father, grandfather, and brother.

The family will receive friends on 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019, with Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m., at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas. Interment will follow at St. John of the Cross Catholic Cemetery.
