Katherine R. (Richards) Botard

Katherine R. Botard, age 101, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

Katherine was born in Fentress, Texas on January 15, 1917 to Ola Myrtle Mercer and Dorse Perkins Richards. She graduated from Robstown High School and from Texas A & I University with a degree in Home Economics. She taught fifth grade in Alice ISD until her retirement in 1978.

She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was very active. In her later years, she enjoyed quilting with the ladies from her church. An avid homemaker, she loved baking and cooking for her family. She was most happy when spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Botard, three brothers and her sister.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Botard drew strength from her church and her loving and close-knit family. She leaves loving memories with her four children, Sandra Kay (Jody) Bezner of Texline, Texas; Anna (Malcom-deceased) Osbourn of Valley Spring, Texas; Ernest J. Botard, Jr. of Alice, Texas; and Bill Botard, also of Alice, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael (Camille) Bezner, Mitchel (Ashley) Bezner, Stephen (Kari) Bezner, Courtney (Mac) Edwards, Kayla (Tom) Magadance, and Collin (Ashley) Osbourn; fourteen great-grandchildren as well as many cherished friends.

Visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice. Interment will follow at Alice Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1400 N. Texas Blvd., Alice, Texas 78332.
