Lindsey Alfred Koenig, age 76, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 29, 2018.
He was born in Mathis, Texas on December 10, 1941 to Edna Jean and Robert A. Koenig.
Lindsey was a graduate of Agua Dulce High School, class of 1960. He was very active in his early life in livestock and beef production as well as farming and ranching along with his dad.
He began ranching on his own and raised a sizeable cow/calf herd. In recent years, he had pursued more farming and ranching management.
He served on the Nueces County River Authority Board of Directors from 2005 to 2018. He was current President of the Jim Wells County Farm Bureau and current Vice-Chairman of the Jim Wells County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors.
He was a pastor at Hollow Tree Baptist Church in Alfred, Texas since 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lindsey will remain in the hearts of his son, Lindsey “Sonny” Alfred Koenig, II of Orange Grove, Texas; one daughter, Laura Ann (James) Koenig Fischer of College Station, Texas; two grandchildren, Zachary James Koenig Fischer and Emily Grace Fischer of College Station, Texas; as well as numerous cousins and many friends.
At 9:00 a.m. this Sunday, December 2, 2018, Lindsey will be honored with the Pioneer Award for his service by the Texas State Farm Bureau at a ceremony in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Visitation with family will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Sons of Hermann Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.
