Melinda Jane (Wallis) Haigood

Melinda Jane Haigood made the journey home to be with her Lord on December 25, 2018.  She was born on February 5, 1930 in Port Lavaca, Texas.  She was the daughter of the late Celilla and William Wallis.

Melinda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a crossword puzzle expert, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading. She was an active member of the Church of Christ at Kings Crossing in Corpus Christi, and was past-member of the Premont Church of Christ, the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice, and the Church of Christ in Agua Dulce.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Melvin Haigood, as well as five sisters and three brothers. 

Melinda leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Danny (Lynn) Haigood of Alice and Pat (Christy) Haigood of Agua Dulce; five grandchildren, Vince (Erica) Haigood, Wylie (Shanee) Haigood, Hunter (Lyza) Haigood, Megan Haigood, and Zach Haigood; eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lynnzie, Karlie, Austin, Brody, Bailey, Waylon, and Riley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with Ralph Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas. 

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Nurses on Wheels, Rosa Bonilla and nurses, for their compassion, care, and love shown to their mother.
