We are heartbroken to share that our father Bobby Lewis Engle, Sr passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at his home in Forest, MS the morning of Tuesday, February 13, 2024. We like to think the world became a little brighter when he was born on January 22, 1942, in Durant, MS. He married Carol Lynn Engle, the love of his life on August 29, 1961, and they lived happily in Forest, MS.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents but is survived by his younger sister Peggy Waddell and his wife, Lynn and four loving children: Teri Lynn Cantu and her husband, George; Bobby Lewis Engle, Jr, and his partner, Ann Chaney; Angela Lucille Engle and her partner, Chris Bell; and Kimberly Jean (Engle) Nichols, and her partner Dustan Westbrook. He is also survived by four grandsons and one granddaughter who was able to introduce Bobby to his only great-grandson.
The cycle of life can become difficult to deal with at the end of a journey, but he met the challenge admirably. Our father enjoyed family life, hunting, fishing and was always cracking a joke. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit and memories will keep him alive in our hearts.
Per Bobby’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or viewing held. Instead, he asked to be cremated. Then he will wait patiently for his wife, Lynn so they can be rejoined and have their ashes spread “Somewhere really pretty – preferably a trout stream” near sunset.
The family will be gathering for a private celebration of life at his home on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in memory of our father. He did so love being out in the woods.
