Virginia Kaye (Baker) Starr

Virginia Kaye Baker Starr went to be with the lord on March 17, 2024. She was 87 years old.

She was born September 3, 1936 in Alice, Texas to Rosalind C. and Grafton Baker. She graduated from William Adams High School in 1954 and from Durham Business College in 1956.

She met Travis Jerry Starr on July 13, 1957 and they were married 7 weeks later. She was born and married in the same house on 5th Street in Alice, Texas.

She served on the Jim Wells County Fair Board for 20 years, was Director of the Alice Youth Rodeo Association and past president of the Alice Business and Professional Women's Club.

In 1990 she served as Parade Marshall for the Jim Wells County Fair Parade. In 1994 she was honored by having the 42nd annual Alice TYRA Rodeo dedicated to her and in 1998 the dedication of the 61st Jim Wells County Fair.

She retired from FESCO Ltd. after a combined 30 years as office manager.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Travis Jerry Starr, a son Kevin Brett Starr, a daughter Khea Lyn Starr, a brother Royce K. Baker, a sister Vena Klingensmith, her parents Rosalind C. and Grafton Baker and her in laws Eula and Marshal Starr of Pearsall, Texas.

She is survived by her son, Travis Brent (Velma Jo) Starr of Alice, six grandchildren, Avery (Joe) Paiz, Coree (Erik) Perez, Ashely (Eric) Estrada, Jeryd (Nichol McGaughy) Lykins, Hayley Jo (Robert) Waldrop, and Travis Blake Starr; her great-grandchildren, Lawson Hayes and Brentley Jo Waldrop, Ava and Ayden Estrada, Zeke and Elisha Perez, Zhyra, Avianna, Liam, Ariya, and Landon Paiz, Josie and Jaqie Padilla. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jo Faith Baker of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Virginia had an enormous amount of love and pride for her family and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with Chapel Service will to held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, TX 78332. Followed by a Christian Burial at Alice Cemetery. Officiated by Pastor Wade Rush.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are; Travis Blake Starr, Jeryd Lykins, Erik Perez, Joe Paiz, Eric Estrada, and Robert Waldrop.

Honorary Pallbearer; Trace Klingensmith.
