Willie C. Mandel, Jr.

Willie C Mandel Jr. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, auto mechanic, and part time cattleman passed away in San Diego, Texas on January 22, 2023 at the age of 99.

Willie was born May 3, 1923 in Alice, Texas to Willie Mandel Sr. and Margarita C. Mandel. Raised in Alice he went on to serve in the US Army during World War II, was taken prisoner in Europe, and upon repatriation returned to Alice where he met his future wife Eva Almaraz. They moved to Corpus Christi where they began their life together having a son, Lee Roy and daughter Eva Bertha.

Upon retirement, he moved back to his family farm to raise a few head of cattle and enjoy all that nature could provide, hunting and fishing when given the opportunity.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Eva, brothers Albert, Alfred, and Charles, sisters Lily and Ella.

Willie is survived by his son Lee Roy Mandel, daughter Eva Bertha Robbins; grandchildren Farrah Robbins, Christina Mandel Hernandez, Eric Mandel, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM.  Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at New Collins Cemetery.
