James William (Bill) Lynn, Jr. was born on August 25, 1939 in Alice, Texas and passed away on November 18, 2019 in Fredericksburg, Texas, at the age of 80.
He was the son of James W. and Jacqueline V. Lynn, and the brother of Jackie Lynn Tilley and Clifton DeWitt Lynn.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne, of Fredericksburg; daughter, Jamie Page of Fredericksburg, Texas and son, Brent Lynn (Jay Jay) of Plainview, Texas. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lyndsey Page, Alex Page, and Caleb Geyer, as well as nieces and nephews, special cousins and many friends.
He attended school in Alice until his family moved to Belton, Texas, where he graduated in 1957. He attended the University of Texas and Texas A & I University, graduating in 1962 with a BBA degree in accounting.
He served in the United States Air Force reserve program before beginning his career as a corporate accountant in Houston. While employed with Texaco, he was selected to attend IBM’s computer programming school and subsequently spent five years as a computer programmer in Houston and Corpus Christi.
He entered the banking profession in 1972 with the Bank of South Texas in Alice. He later became a senior office with the Alice National Bank before becoming president and CEO of First Community Bank and serving on its board of directors.
Bill founded Professional Management Associates, an investment management firm, serving clients mostly in Texas for over twenty years, with offices in Alice and in Fredericksburg, Texas.
He was involved in agribusiness as president of Lynn Properties, Inc., operating ranches in Jim Wells and Live Oak counties. He also served on the board of directors of Texas AgFinance in Robstown.
Bill served as director of the Alice Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of the Alice Airport Board, member of the Alice Board of Adjustments, and was a member of the Alice Rotary Club for many years.
Bill was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Alice and trustee and treasurer of the Mary Dinn Reynolds Methodist Foundation. He was also a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Alice Cemetery in Alice, Texas. Memorial Service will be held in Fredericksburg at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 Milam, Fredericksburg, Texas.
