Laura Elizabeth (Calvert) Calvit

Laura Elizabeth Calvit, age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019.

She was born in Sabinal, Texas on May 3, 1950 to Laura and Joseph Calvert.

She graduated from Texas A & I University with a master’s degree in education and accounting, and was an instructor at Bee County College until her retirement.

Laura was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas. She was married to James Crawford, Jr. for 29 years. She enjoyed reading, writing, and taking long walks at the park, when she was physically able to. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughters and her special friend, Howard Hensley.

She is predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Kate Cox and Annie Sue Hagermann; and three brothers, Charlie Calvert, Leonard Calvert, and Joe Neal Calvert.

Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Cindy (Mark) Meier of Bishop, Texas; her two granddaughters, Allison Meier of Kingsville, Texas and Elizabeth Meier of Bishop, Texas; one brother, Neal (Karen) Calvert of Austin, Texas; one sister, Mary Bess (Milton) Hobbs of Seguin, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura grew up in the Texas Hill Country, and she loved the hills, rivers, and fall colors.

No services will be held. Her ashes will be scattered amongst the maple trees that she loved when they reach peak color next fall.
