Mary Ann Schuette passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at her home in Orange Grove, TX, with her family by her side. She lived a joy-filled, blessed life for 82 years. Her story began on August 1, 1936 on the family farm in Orange Grove, TX.
While attending Orange Grove High School, she enjoyed playing the clarinet, being a drum majorette and was homecoming queen. After graduation, she married Ben Schuette and they settled in Corpus Christi, TX to raise their five children: Debra, Brenda, Cindy, Lori and Ben. While being a successful young mother, she also graduated college to become an RN, where she worked her way up to head nurse on 5B at Spohn Hospital and opened the nursing unit for the surgical floor at Bay Area Hospital. Although she was quite accomplished at nursing, God, family and friends were always the highlight of her life.
MaryAnn hosted many family gatherings, cooked countless meals and always enjoyed getting together to share in food, fun and faith.
While living such an active life, she also managed to sew clothes for her children, participate in a bowling league, learned how to paint and traveled the world.
She volunteered her time for others through Mission of Mercy, St. John of the Cross Alter Society, Bingo, Catholic Life Insurance, and was a blood donor.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Irmgard (Rokohl) and Edward Wostal; siblings Larry Wostal and Evelyn Fuhrken and great grandson Mason Kieschnick.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 yrs, Ben Schuette; 5 children, Debra Sherry (Michael), Brenda Weil, Cindy Vernon, Lori Slusher, and Ben Schuette(Stephanie); 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Charlie Weil (Brittany, Harvey, Benjamin); Frances Weil; Bryan Connor, Jon Vernon, Zachary Kieschnick, Skylar Kieschnick (Jessica, Grayson, Adelyn); Abbigail Schuette, Grace Schuette and one sibling Frances Hudman.
