Mary Louise Small

Mary Louise Small entered her heavenly Father’s arms on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in Alice, Texas.

She was born on October 25, 1943 to Mary Elizabeth Voiles and Thomas Small in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was raised and attended schools there. Eventually, she made her home in Orange Grove and was a member of Living Water Fellowship in Orange Grove, Texas.  

Mary loved the outdoors, animals, and music.  She enjoyed driving along scenic roads, windows rolled down, music blasting away, heading to some new adventure.  She would keep items from special places she visited so there was always a plethora of boxes and neat little containers full of her “souvenirs” like rocks, shells, leaves – anything that she could look at and later remember that moment in time.

Mary remembered the lyrics to many songs and liked many different genres of music.  She loved old country music especially, but could quickly switch to rock and roll and jam out with the best of them!

Her favorite thing in the world was to be a fur-mom to her cats.  She had a soft spot for animals and throughout her life she tenderly cared for many cats and kittens.

Mary will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter, Renee (Gerald) Arismendez; five grandchildren, Joseph Cherry, Teresa Cherry, Humberto Esparza, Ricardo Esparza, and Daniel Esparza; four great-grandchildren; her close friends, Evelyn Brown and Christine Ochoa as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her beautiful cat, Sara Sue.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Living Water Fellowship, 203 N. Metz St., Orange Grove, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary Small’s name to the ARK (Animal Rescue Kleberg), 225 E. Henrietta St., Kingsville, Texas 78363.
