Andres Lopez Sr., 96, was called home by our heavenly father to join his beloved wife Angelita Salinas Lopez on the morning of February 8, 2024 in Alice, Texas. He was born in Falfurrias, Texas on August 4, 1927 to Yrineo Lopez and Eloisa Mungia Lopez.
His parents took him to his childhood home in Premont, Texas where he grew up along with his 10 siblings. Dad, Grandpa, Tio and Andy as he was affectionately referred to was respected and loved by family, friends, and co-workers. He was a hard-working man not only with his full-time job with Texas Highway Department but as a rancher and a backhoe operator and countless ventures he would do to provide for his family.
He was known to be a joker and a great story teller with many of them coming from his late father and many life experiences. His stories always had great meaning to all who listened and learned a life lesson. The greatest story told by him was when he met the Love of His Life, Angelita. How he couldn’t go by a day without seeing her or making arrangements to sit with her as she spoke of her horse and cows.
From this union was born a daughter Elva Short, three sons, Richard Salinas Lopez, Andres “Sonny” Lopez, Jr. and Vidal “Billy” Lopez. From there started the creation of 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Others left to cherish their memories of Andy are numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends and co-workers who will miss him but never forget all he gave to them.
Andres is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Angelita Salinas Lopez; his parents and ten siblings.
A Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 1:00 PM and Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice, Texas. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.
