Beatriz “Mana” Salazar, born in Alice, Texas on January 1, 1937, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2024, surrounded by her daughters. She was a beloved daughter of Raul Salazar and Berta Blanca Lozano.
Mana is survived by her daughters, Leticia (Mike) Bowden and Livia Garcia; grandsons, Zachary (Emily) Bowden, Phillip (Carson) Bowden, Nicholas Bowden, Jon-Erik Garcia; greatgrandchildren, Hadden, Molly, Claire, and Violet Bowden; sisters, Bertha (Adan) Chavana, Linda (Craig) Erickson, Viola Garza, Alma (Ruben) Gonzalez, brother Leonel (Rosa) V. Lozano; and several nephews and nieces.
Mana was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Santiago Garcia; ex-second husband, Seferino Salinas; infant granddaughter, Stephanie Bowden; and brothers Rene V. Lozano and Armando V. Lozano.
After graduating from Alice High School Mana married Santiago Garcia and began building a life filled with love and dedication to her family. At the age of twenty-seven, she was widowed after Santiago was in a work-related accident. After her devastating loss, Mana’s strength and determination to care for her daughters was unwavering as she continued working at Garcia Drugs before transitioning into a role as a bank teller and officer. She is remembered by many, even after her retirement, for her unique way of welcoming customers with her beautiful smile and personality. It was evident to all that Mana’s daughters and grandsons were the center of her universe. Mana cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Only because of Mana’s endless encouragement did her daughters and grandsons complete their higher education levels and develop exceptional work ethics like their mother and grandmother. Mana did not have spare time for hobbies while raising her daughters since weekdays were devoted to caring for her girls and work. Weekends after church were spent visiting grandparents, other family members and friends. After retiring, Mana returned to her love of dancing by joining senior line dancing and enrolling in ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed bowling and spending time over lunch or other events with lifelong friends. However, it was apparent that her true devotion was to daily church mass and volunteering at the church, where she found solace in faith alongside cherished friends. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Windsor Calallen Memory Care Unit along with Altus Hospice for their unwavering support during these difficult times.
Pallbearers include Jon-Erik Garcia, Nicholas Bowden, Mike Bowden, Ruben Gutierrez, Jr., Danny Chavana, and Orlando Campos.
As we prepare to say our final goodbyes, we will remember Mana as someone whose beautiful smile, warmth, and compassion will continue to shine brightly through her family and all those whose lives were touched by knowing such an extraordinary woman. Mana’s legacy will live on eternally within our hearts. May you rest in peace dear Mom/Momo and may God’s perpetual light shine upon you. You are forever in our hearts.
