“Candi” Hermine Peterson, age 81, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
She was a local Orange Grove resident and a member of Faith Church for over 45 years. She retired as an upper math teacher who graduated from Texas A & I University in Kingsville in 1972 with a Bachelors of Science and minor in Mathematics. She had taught at Alice ISD, Agua Dulce ISD, Mathis ISD, Tuloso-Midway ISD, and Victoria High School. She worked as a lab technician for LabCorp, testing water and soil, for over ten years.
Candi loved to travel, and she traveled the world! Everywhere that she traveled, she collected clocks. She was a member of Bunco clubs and her “42” clubs. She volunteered at Christus Spohn Hospital and at election polls. And, last but not least, she was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pete Peterson; the father of her children, Richard Carter; one son, Dennis Carter; and two sisters, Rosemary Nicely and Amelia “Millie” Sweeney.
Candi is survived by her five children Beverly (Jim) Long of Sandia and Ken (Brenda) Carter of Mathis; Shirley Nicol of Flour Bluff, Bill (Sherry) Peterson of Alice, and Sami (Sam) Weatherall of Louisiana; ten grandchildren, Dudley (Ashley) Klatt, Josh (Brittney) Klatt, Maggie Long, Mandy Long, Nick (Brittany) Carter, Heather Carter, Misty Nicol, Stephen Peterson, Tessa (Brandon) Chauvin, and Hannah Weatherall; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes “Jeanne” Kleiber of Victoria; and many cherished friends.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Faith Church in Orange Grove with Keith Leeper officiating. Interment will follow at Sons of Hermann Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
