Charles Anthony Ranly, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Agua Dulce, Texas on Friday, November 12, 2021. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Charles was born on April 14, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Joseph Ranly and Cecilia Busenlehner. He attended and graduated from St. John's Catholic School in Robstown, Texas. Charles proudly served in the United States Army National Guard. Upon his return, Charles worked on his family farm. He married his wife, Nora, in 1972 and together they raised three wonderful boys as well as many extended family members. He always welcomed his nephews and nieces into his loving arms and home where he raised them as his own.
Charles was a devoted Catholic and longtime member of St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church. He attended mass daily, and even after being bed-ridden he was able to listen to mass and accept the holy sacrament. He was also blessed to receive his final anointing (Last Rites) before passing.
Although he was paralyzed for over 53 years, that never slowed him down. Charles was a hard worker who could fix anything. In his younger years he enjoyed woodworking. He always had a great attitude and was jolly. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Charles was blessed with a large and loving family. Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Nora Ranly of Agua Dulce, Texas; children, Anthony (Tiffeny) Ranly of Agua Dulce, Texas and Christopher (Katy) Ranly of Hallettsville, Texas; grandchildren, Braxton Ranly, Lane Ranly, Brody Ranly, Lathan Ranly, and Blair Ranly; twin sister, Charlene Ranly and sister, Linda (Mike) Gallagher; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Carl Ranly; brothers, Bobby Ranly, Donald Ranly, and Vincent Ranly.
A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 27, 2021, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at approximately 10:30 AM. Both will be conducted at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce, Texas with accommodations being made for additional seating and viewing of the services in the Parish Hall.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
