Charles “Chuck” Grimes, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, September 5, 2022 in Orange Grove, Texas.
He was born April 3, 1949 in Oklahoma City to James Melvin and Mary Jane (Myers) Grimes and after a short time there the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Chuck spent his formative years. He served in the United States Army, was sent to Vietnam and after being honorably discharged started work for Mobil Pipeline. He spent the rest of his career working in the Oil and Gas Industry as a welder, pipeline inspector and job foreman until his retirement. Throughout those years he worked in some of the most beautiful parts of the United States and always talked about those places.
Whether you knew him as “Chuck”, “Charlie Pop”, “Pop” or any other name, if he was your friend you had a friend for life. You never had to wonder where you stood with Chuck. He enjoyed having a drink with his friends, spending time with family, traveling to new places, and listening to old cowboy music in his garage. He was proud of his family, most of all, his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck is survived by his wife Dolly of 47 years; daughters, Lacey Grimes Herrmann (Jon),Celeste (Justin) Grimes Walker; grandchildren, Hallee Herrmann, Hayes Herrmann, Hank Herrmann, and Brazos Walker; siblings, Jamie Grimes, Kip Grimes (Yvonne), Donna Rosser and Pam Grimes along with his Fuhrken family & many nieces and nephews.
