Charles "Chuck" Stewart Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Kenneth Stewart, 62, of Lagarto, Texas, passed away on November 13, 2025. His passing came unexpectedly, yet peacefully, with his loving wife by his
side at home. Though the rest of his family could not be there in that moment, he left this world held in the love of all who cherished him most.

Chuck was born on October 29, 1963, in Odessa, Texas, to Joanne and Pete Stewart. He grew up beneath the wide Texas sky, a place that helped shape the work ethic, grit, and generous spirit that would define him for the rest of his life. He was a brother to Vince Stewart and his wife Tammy, and to Bill Batey and his wife Tara, and a proud uncle to their children. Chuck was also a nephew—and like a son—to John and Virginia Wood; and a loyal friend to more people than any list could ever hold.

A lifelong oil man, Chuck carried with him a deep well of knowledge earned from decades of hard work—long days, longer nights, and the kind of determination that built not just a career, but a reputation. But even with all he accomplished professionally, Chuck’s greatest pride, joy, and purpose were always his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Stewart, and his children: Wade Stewart, William Stewart, Summer Purcell, Brittany Carter, and Bradley Gillaspia. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Tait McCain, Bane Carter, Slade Carter, and Daxton Carter, each of whom lit up his face in a way nothing else could.

Chuck had the biggest heart—one that seemed too large for a single lifetime. He didn’t know a stranger, only friends he simply hadn’t met yet. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, the last dollar in his wallet, or his time, even when he had little to spare. Loving, honest, and always giving more than he should, Chuck lived his life as a steady foundation for others—family, neighbors, and friends alike.

He leaves behind a legacy not measured in titles or possessions, but in the countless lives he touched: through kindness, through laughter, and through the quiet, unwavering reliability of a man who showed up when you needed him most.
