Dale Short

Dale Short, age 68, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in Laredo, Texas. Dale was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on January 11, 1953, to Bernard Lee Short and Katie Wier.  

Dale spent most of his young life growing up in New Mexico before moving to Texas. He graduated from Alice High School in 1971. After serving nine years in the United States Airforce he worked in the oil field supply business, and then went on to work in a medical supply unit.

After an injury on the job Dale began his academic career by beginning classes at Odessa College. Once he graduated from Odessa College with an Associate’s Degree in Art, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art. Not wanting to stop there, he went on to graduate school and came away with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art. After a couple of years at New Mexico Junior College, he came to Laredo Community College and stayed until he retired 24 years later.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, his very young grandson, and his son.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, three children and 10 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, Texas
