Daniel P. Gonzalez

Daniel P. Gonzalez, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Alice, Texas, on March 12, 1954, to Eloy and Ernestina Gonzalez, Daniel spent his life grounded in hard work, family, and his faith in God.

Daniel dedicated over 40 years to the oil field industry. He retired in 2016 as a rig electrician with H&P Drilling, a role he took great pride in and where he built lifelong friendships and earned deep respect.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Diana Gonzalez, and their children: Marcos Gonzalez (Shannon Gonzalez), Danielle Pena (Trevor Mattke), and Daniel Andrew Gonzalez. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Luna Gonzalez, Remington Gonzalez, Kyzer Pena, Kalum Pena, Gavin Pena, Jaden Pena, Noah Mattke, and Easton Mattke — each of whom brought great joy and pride to his life, and two brothers, Eloy Gonzalez, Jr. and Robert Gonzalez (Candy).

He was preceded in death by his father, Eloy Gonzalez; mother, Ernestina Salinas; stepfather, Ruben Salinas; brother, David Gonzalez; and son-in-law, Gonzalo Pena III.

A memorial service to celebrate Daniel’s life will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holmgreen Mortuary 2061 E. Main St. in Alice, Texas. All who knew and loved Daniel are invited to join in honoring his memory.

Daniel will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, strong work ethic, and his faith and love for God. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished. May his memory be a blessing.
