David Heldt, aged 76, passed away on January 15, 2025 in Deer Park, Texas. He was born on December 18, 1948 in Freer, Texas to Arno and Hertha Heldt.
In 1930, Arno Heldt and his brother, Roland Heldt, started a freight business, hauling cotton with horses and wagons. Arno Heldt became employed with the Texas Highway Dept. in South Texas. At this time, the oilfield boom hit in Duval County. Arno and Roland bought a truck and began working in the oil fields of South Texas. This business became known as Heldt Bros. Trucking Co. This Operation did statewide hauling for sixty years.
David worked for Heldt Bros. Trucking Co. and eventually worked for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice, Texas, where he was a longtime member.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Hertha Heldt; sister, Grace Kelley; brother-in-law, William Kelley; nephew, Joey Pogue and niece, Susan Pogue.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann (Paul) Davis and Ruth (Eddie) Hall and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary. A Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice, Texas, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM. A Private Family Burial will follow.
