Doris Elnora (Smith) Huey

Doris Elnora Huey, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 18, 2019 in Kingsville, Texas.

She was born in Poteau, Oklahoma on March 7, 1933 to Ica and Kelsey Smith. She lived the majority of her life in Freer and Bishop, Texas.

She was a loving wife, a very devoted mother, and the very best “Nana” that her three grandsons could ever ask for! She also was a wonderful great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Doris was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas. She was a member of Dorcas Circle and had served on many committees throughout her life. She will be remembered as being kind and helpful to others. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mickey Huey, and her daughter, Coleen Miller; her sister, Emma Lou Scarbrough and two brothers, Joe Smith and Richard Smith.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Noal “Booger” (Hali) Huey of Seymour, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Kyle (Alissa) Huey of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Cody (Kendall) Huey of Bishop, Texas, and Clint Huey of Seymour, Wisconsin; seven great-grandchildren, Lane, Journey, Charlotte “Charlie”, Hazel, Harrison, Hayes, and Levi; one sister, Judy Wood of Kingsville, Texas; her son-in-law, Tem Miller of Bishop; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and many cherished friends.

An immense thank you is deserved by Azalea Jimenez and Doris’ sister, Judy Wood, who made Doris’ last year significant and comfortable.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas, with Pastor Matthew Ulmer officiating.

Burial of cremains will follow at Concordia Cemetery in Bishop, Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
