Doris was born August 17, 1948 in Mathis, Texas. She was raised in Orange Grove, Texas, by Herbert Wilhelm Gustav Huff and Katherine Marie Bertha Pfuhl alongside her brothers, Dennis and Harold Huff. She began her career as a beautician then received her Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. She married the love of her life, Oliver James Thieme on October 4, 1980. Doris was a devoted and supportive mother to Warren “Buck” William Lang, Sarah Elise Ross, and Laura Electa Wise. While visiting Laura and Devan Wise in Lufkin, Texas, Doris passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 5, 2022, surrounded by her husband and loving family.
She had a huge heart that led her in acts of service. Doris had talents that allowed her to give back to her friends and community through her craft abilities. She sewed and crocheted for her family, friends, church friends, and others in need. She also dedicated her time with a mission to the border homeless shelters and Haitian orphanages. Her happy place was her sewing room, as well as, traveling to help her daughters create vintage dresses and fill their home with various home-made items.
Doris walked as a devoted Christian throughout her life. Doris expressed her faith while serving various committees at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, including being treasurer for many years.
Doris was preceded in death by both her parents, Herbert Wilhelm Gustav Huff and Katherine Marie “Bertha” Pfuhl, and brother, Marvin Huff.
She is survived by her husband, Oliver Thieme of Orange Grove, Texas; her children, Warren Lang and his wife, Charlotte of Corpus Christi, Sarah Thieme Ross and her husband, Chase Ross of San Angelo, Laura Thieme Wise and her husband, Devan Wise of Lufkin Texas; her grandchildren, Scott Lang and Kaitlyn Lang; and her brothers, Harold Huff and his wife, Sharon of Roosevelt, Utah and Dennis and his wife, Wolle of Alice, Texas.
Family receiving Friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas 78332. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove, Texas. A Christian Burial will follow at Sons of Herman Cemetery.
