Dorothy Ann Johnston, 99, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023 at the New Hope Manor Nursing Home in Cedar Park, Texas. She was born on July 9, 1924 to William and Albina Pavlicek in Cummings, Kansas.
Dorothy was the oldest of 5 children. During World War II, Dorothy worked in a large canning factory in Houston, Texas. After the war ended, she married a Navy veteran, James B. Johnston and resided in Sealy, Texas for several years. The couple had four children; Linda, James Worth, Wade Lee, Jean Geradette. They moved to Orange Grove, Texas in the 1960s, and then to Agua Dulce, Texas, where the couple resided for many years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Johnston, her parents; her brothers, Edward Pavlicek, Bill Pavlicek, Jerry Pavlicek, and a daughter, Jean Johnston Pierce.
Dorothy is survived by daughter, Linda (J.D.) Browning of Alice, Texas, James W. (Ruth) Johnston of Orange Grove, Texas, Wade L. (Karen) Johnston of Cedar Park, Texas. There are 10 grandchildren; Michael, Jeffrey, Shelley, Jared, Kandy, Brandy, Paige, Aubrey, Leslie, Clay, and honorary granddaughters; Lindsey and Elizabeth. She had 16 great grandchildren Devin, Bethany, Noah, Mackenzie, Jake, Dylan, Jaden, Wyatt, Maison, Mckenna, Logan, C.J., Cora, Lucy, Elie and J.W. she had 1 great, great granddaughter, Hadley. She also had many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce, Texas. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at St. John of the Cross Cemetery in Orange Grove, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Browning, Jeffrey Browning, Clayton Quinones, Jared Johnston, Noah Valdez, and John Hert. Honorary pallbearers: Jake Johnston, Davey Migura, Jeremy Hubble, Dylan Hubble, and Jaden Hubble.
Services are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
