Dorothy Schroeder Obituary

Dorothy Lee Schroeder, Age 96, of Orange Grove, TX, passed away on February 1, 2025. She was born on August 24,1928, in Robstown, Texas to the late Adolph Pfeiler and Isabella Pfeiler.

Dorothy was a talented and prolific seamstress and sewer throughout her life. She sewed many treasured gifts for her family including clothing, doll clothes, stuffed animals and Christmas decorations. But one of Dorothy’s greatest joys was her quilting. Over her lifetime she made many beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren and many baby quilts for her congregation’s babies. She was also a wonderful “from-scratch,” baker and always had cookies waiting in the freezer for her grandchildren. Dorothy was known for her feisty and funny nature, and sassiness served with a beautiful smile. She stayed active and loved “going.” It didn’t matter where; she was always ready to go.

Dorothy was a lifetime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove, Texas where she was a member of the Ruth Circle Bible Study and she was the leader of the Ladies Quilting Group for over 25 years until her death. Her faith played an important role in her life as she lived it every day. She was a great example for her children and her grandchildren, living a simple, joyful and faith-filled life.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, William “Bill” Schroeder, her granddaughter, Misty Wimberly, her parents and her brothers, Lenert Pfeiler, Johnny Pfeiler, Adolph Pfeiler, Jr. and Joe Allen Pfeiler.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Ruth Weathersby (David), Agua Dulce, Texas, Kathy Wimberly (Ronnie), Robstown, Texas, Linda Diehnelt (Bill), Sun Lakes, AZ, Janice Kimball (Jimmy), Corpus Christi, Texas, Loretta Colby (Walt), Riviera, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Ola Mae Batteau, Sandia, Texas. She leaves behind a large family of 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
