Ella Mae Smith

Ella Mae Smith, age 90, passed away on October 13, 2022 in Alice, Texas.  She was born on September 12, 1932 to Edna Mae Jones and Robert A. Hall in Mulberry, Texas. 

Ella Mae Smith loved the color red; red roses, red hats, red clothes, red everything! She enjoyed crocheting, the more colorful the better. She adored hats and loved to collect them. She loved Boston Terriers, fishing, and was infamous for telling jokes. While Ella had many passions, her deepest passions by far were for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family. She cherished her true love, J.G. Smith and dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Ella Mae and J.G. were both especially devoted to loving and caring for their youngest child with special needs, Betty Jean. She treasured the gift of sisterhood and would reunite with her sisters every year in different places where laughs, stories, and love were shared in abundance.

Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, J.G. Smith; daughter, Betty Jean Smith, one sister, Margie, and four brothers, R.A, Jack, Ned, and Ted.

Ella Mae leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, Dennis (Judy) Smith of Cedar Hill, Texas, Ronald (Kathy) Smith of Alice, and Rhonda (Bobby) Wright of Alice. She was the proud grandmother of Dennis Matthew Smith, Miranda (Nate) Rodrigues, Lauren (Randal) Contario, Brandon (Brandi) Smith, Collin Smith, and Whitney (Chris) Knode, and proud great-grandmother to Sydney, Jacob, and Kyla; and proud great-great-grandmother to Jackson and Easton.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. on Friday, October 14, 2022 with Family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Danny Ray Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice.
