Elodia R. Amador, age 83, passed away in the comfort of her own home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born September 16, 1938 in Beeville, Texas to Rodrigo and Bernarda G. Rodriguez and raised in Alice, Texas.
She was a homemaker and caregiver for her children, husband and mother. Elodia was known to many as the “Historian”, she knew plenty about her family history and her community. If anyone was searching for a long lost relative, they could count on Elodia to share their loving stories.
Elodia was a devout catholic. She taught CCD, was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, a Catholic Daughter of America and enjoyed singing in the Church Choir for Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Catholic Church’s in Alice, Texas.
She loved dancing to Latino music with her husband of 60 years. Elodia enjoyed visiting family and friends and she would send them treats and end their visit with a prayer for them.
Elodia is preceded in death by her husband, Dimas F. Amador; son, Dimas Amador, Jr.; her parents; brothers, Abelardo G. Rodriguez and Rodrigo G.Rodriguez, Jr.; sisters, Glafira Rodriguez, Maria Herminia Rodriguez, Guadalupe “Lupita” Solis, Cristina Rodriguez and Solia Gonzalez.
She is survived by her children, Amelia (Ruben Guerra) Alaniz, David Amador, Arnold (Vickie) Amador and Emilio (Amy) Amador; fur baby, Skipper 2; brother, Armando (Yolanda) Rodriguez; sister, Maria Concepcion De La Garza; grandchildren, Amanda (Thomas) Salinas, Mark (Eva) Alaniz, Sarah Alaniz, Andrew Amador, Tiffany (Adrian) Hernandez, Joseph Amador, Matthew (Anissa) Amador, Marcus Amador, Terah, and Juliana Amador; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:30 PM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Roberson- Collins Cemetery.
