Fernando Gonzalez

Fernando Gonzalez, age 58, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. He was born in Alice, Texas on September 21, 1961 to Hipolito and Leonarda Gonzalez.

He was a devoted brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a horse jockey and loved spending time out at the ranch with his family and friends. He also enjoyed singing, dancing, and telling jokes. He was best known as “The Best in the West the Continental Lover the one and only one”.

Fernando was preceded in death by his parents, Hipolito and Leonarda Gonzalez and his brother, Martin Gonzalez.

He will be dearly missed by his two sons, Fernando Gonzalez, Jr. and Michael Gonzalez; his three grandchildren; five brothers Crisanto (Lucy) Gonzalez, Hipolito Gonzalez, Jr., Frederico (Margie) Gonzalez, Eloy Gonzalez, and Javier (Ludy) Gonzalez, all of Alice; four sisters, Maria Elena Castillo of Lansing, Michigan, Maria Criselda (Ernesto) Perez of Alice, Maria Alma (Carlos) Perales of San Diego, and Rosie (Jesse) Lira of Bishop; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary, with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020, with Father Chris Becerra officiating, at the Gonzalez Ranch Cemetery in Tecolote Ranch, Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
