Frank Theodore Kalinec, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on May 9, 1935, in Alice, Texas to Joseph F. Kalinec, Sr. and Francis Hlavac Kalinec.
Frank proudly served in the United States Army, worked at Coyote Drive-in Theater, Dowel Oilfield, Celanese Chemical Plant, and Kalinec Construction from 1971 up until the Lord called him home. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an usher at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and a former religious teacher.
Frank enjoyed building and working with his hands, visiting his grandchildren, contributing to the Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls. He loved telling jokes and playing dominos. Frank was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Francis B. Kalinec; first wife, Brenda Sue Kalinec; brothers, Joseph F. Kalinec, Jr., George J. Kalinec, Charles E. Kalinec, and Henry Kalinec; father and mother-in-law, Howard & Jewel Combs; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Combs, Howard Combs, and Don Olsen; nephew, Paul Kalinec; and niece, Patricia Kalinec.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kalinec of Alice, Texas; children, Joseph H. (Angie) Kalinec of Corpus Christi, Texas, Susan Kalinec Ruether of Alice, Texas, and Nathan I. (Stephanie) Kalinec of San Antonio, Texas; step-children, Christine Berry of San Antonio, Texas and John Berry of Alice, Texas; grandchildren, Carrie (Christopher) Templeton, Andrew (Angela) Kalinec, Kyle Kalinec, Brandon (Tobin) Ruether, Rachel Ruether, Cassie (Clay) Webb, Jeremy (Cheyenne) Pullin, Matthew Kalinec, Chelsea Kalinec, Amber Kalinec, Matthew Berry, James Berry, and Michael (Jamie) Berry; great-grandchildren, Charles, Franklin, Amelia, Joseph, Thomas, Brendon, Alexis, Carter, Darren, and Quinn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Holmgreen Mortuary 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St Elizabeth Catholic Church, Celebrant, Monsignor Leonard Pivonka. A Christian Burial will follow at Alice Cemetery.
