Frederick Brand Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of long time Orange Grove resident, Frederick Seale Brand, who departed this life on 6 November 2025 at the age of 82.

Seale Brand was born July 20, 1943, in Nueces County to Robert and Annie Francis (Sissy) Brand. He was raised in Orange Grove, Texas, where he developed lifelong friendships and a strong sense of community. Seale graduated from Orange Grove High School, proud to call himself a Bulldog.  He was also proud to be a graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural with a Texas Teaching Certificate and Master’s in Educational Administration.

On August 15, 1962, Seale married the love of his life, Patricia Tenberg. They were high school sweethearts and Seale always said it was “Love at first sight”.  Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. Seale was a devoted son, husband, father and a very proud grandfather.

Seale’s life was defined by his deep commitment as an educator and public servant.  He loved his Orange Grove community and endeavored to serve in every capacity possible.  His compassionate spirit, hands-on approach, and genuine care for his community will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Most knew Seale as Mr. Brand, the respected teacher and later principal who inspired countless students. Others as Mayor Brand, the dedicated leader whose vision helped shape his hometown, or as The Voice of the Bulldogs, the spirited Friday night football game announcer whose commentary brought communities together. Yet his service extended far beyond these roles.

Seale also served as the Orange Grove Municipal Judge, was an active board member of the appraisal district, served multiple terms on the Orange Grove school board, the city council, and contributed his expertise to the museum and church, among many other positions. His unwavering dedication to helping those in need was evident in the small acts of kindness that touched so many lives. It was not uncommon for him to personally inquire about students missing school, only to discover they lacked basic necessities. Drawing from his own experience as a devoted single father of three daughters, Seale would make sure his students had what they lacked to get them back into school. The small acts of kindness by him will be always remembered by the people he’s helped over his 5 decades of service to his community.

Seale is survived by his 3 daughters Tracy Brand of Corpus Christi, TX Toye Wilcott (Nathan) Oklahoma City, OK, and Talisha Long (David) of Kingsville, TX and four grandchildren: Christian Fontan (Amber), Lauren Fontan, Bryce Long, Liam Brand-Brown, and many nieces and nephews who he treated as his own.  He was also survived by a special friend, Cheryl Acklen. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his parents, and two brothers, Massey Brand and Martin Brand.

A memorial service will be held on November 22, 2025, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove, Texas at 11:00 AM to celebrate his extraordinary life. A celebration of life will follow at the Orange Grove Rifle Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Faith Church, or Orange Grove ISD Education Foundation in his memory.

Frederick Seale Brand will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service, kindness, and community spirit lives on in every life he touched. May he rest in peace.

The family extends sincere appreciation to Rose Kraatz and Rachel Pena for their exceptional compassion and care. Their dedication, patience, and love made such a difference in his life (and in ours), and we will always be grateful.

The family would like to thank Altus Hospice Care Nurse Blanca Garza who provided exceptional care and compassion in dad’s final days.
