George Green Reed, Jr.

U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel (Retired) George Green Reed, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in Alice, Texas. He was born August 28, 1922 in Alice, Texas to George Green and Ora Lea Reed, Sr.

George served in the United States Air Force during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Alice, Texas. George enjoyed spending his time visiting with friends and family. He loved playing golf and giving to his favorite charities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Marie Reed; wife, Joye Reed; son, Richard Reed and brother, Frank Austin Reed.

George is survived by his children, Cubb (Debbie) Stokes of Futon, Kentucky and Sandra Bolin of Hickman, Kentucky; grandchildren, Wes (Stacy) Reed of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rey (Joy) Infante of Columbia, South Carolina, Lisa (Trevor) Robinson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Clay (Carrie) Bolin of Henderson, Kentucky, Nick (RaeJean) Stokes of Washington, DC and Natalie (Terry) Davis of Macomb, Illinois; niece, Courtney Curbow (Chris) Blanco; other nieces and nephews and numerous great grandchildren, cousins and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2023 with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM with Full Military Honors at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 200 N Wright St, Alice, TX 78332. A Private Family Burial will be held at Alice Cemetery at a later date.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Steve Findley. Justin Findley, James Lodge, Shaun Carter, Ben Sauceda and Mike Gorsline.
