Glenda G. Black, age 68, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in George West, Texas. She was born on August 17, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to James E. and Mary Ethel Correu Griggs.
Glenda was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed rock hunting, gardening, watching birds and other wildlife, singing, dancing, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends. Glenda was known for her strong faith and generous nature; her selflessness knew no bounds.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James E. Griggs Jr., and sisters, Melvina Littlefield and Jennie Griggs.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 47 years, Steve Cole Black; three children, Mary Ella Reavis (Douglas), Judy Marie Black (William) and Sabrina Black Ortiz (Andrew); ten grandchildren, Megan Reavis, Skyler Black (John), Charles Reavis, Andrew Ortiz, Jr., Miley Ortiz, Hunter
Medrano, Jordan Ortiz, Iris Ortiz, Zoe Medrano, and Henry Medrano; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, TX 78332. A Private Graveside Service will be held at George West Cemetery on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Arrangements are by Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice.
