It’s with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Our Beautiful, Loving Mother, Hilda G. Gonzalez. She passed away peacefully on August 13, 2023.
She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Our mother was an excellent example of a strong spiritual woman. She has been an inspiration to all of us and to those around her. Her compassion extended beyond her family, as she dedicated herself to her faith.
Hilda leaves behind her legacy of Love, Strength and Resilience that every one of her children was there to witness. She wanted everyone to know about her faith and her love for Jehovah. That is what got her through her trials and also her triumphs. Psalms 121:2 My help comes from Jehovah. She wanted all her family to believe that soon we will all be together in Paradise. Revelation 21:4
Apart from family, she loved to shop. She eagerly made trips to Mexico, stocking up, setting up then opening up her store. She enjoyed being there so much that when eyesight began to fail, she devised new ways to continue. She began feeling the materials, seeing it through her touch. Amazing Woman!
Her ultimate joy in life was being surrounded by her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all loved our “Maw Maw”. We will never forget her huge belly laughs and how she would greet her grand and great grandchildren by touching their face and arms to see how they all have grown. She loved them all dearly.
Hilda was born to Jacinto and Sofia S. Garcia on April 30, 1928. She was married for 75 years to Timoteo R. Gonzalez.
She is survived by her eight children, Rolando (Cookie) Gonzalez of New Braunfels, Texas, Rudy (Martha) Gonzalez of Knoxville, Tennessee, Rosalinda Gonzalez of Westwego, Louisiana, Ricardo Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rommel Gonzalez of Waggaman, Louisiana, Robert (Rhonda) Gonzalez of Jena, Louisiana, Ruth (David) Huggett of Jefferson, Louisiana and Rey (Velinda) Gonzalez of Rockport, Texas; 24 grand children and 27 great grandchildren; brother, Rene (Ofelia) Garcia of Austin, Texas and sister, Lydia Champion.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a Talk to follow at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary. A Burial will be held at 1:00 PM at Val Verde Memorial Gardens.
