Ida Light Obituary

Ida Mae Adams Light, age 95, passed away, surrounded by her family, on September 18, 2024. She was born January 2, 1929, to Thomas Jefferson Adams and Ida Ethel Ingram Adams, in Bentonville, Texas.

Ida Mae graduated from Agua Dulce High School in 1945, as Valedictorian. The education of her children was always important. She was active in PTA and supported all their extracurricular activities. Her home was always immaculate, and great home cooked meals were the norm.

On March 20, 1948, she married the love of her life, Doyle (J. D.) Light. They were married 67 years. They worked together to make their life a good one. James was born in December of '48 and Beverly in October of '52. The big surprise came in September of '66, and his name was Richard.

She was gracious and loving. Her faith in God was unwavering, a good and faithful servant. Even near the end, when other things had been forgotten, she remembered every word of hymns and loved to sing them.

Ida Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doyle, and their son Richard Therman Light. Also, brothers Marion (Anita) Adams, Marvin (Bonita) Adams and Arnold (Betty) Adams; sisters Berniece (Reynolds) Foster and Doris Brandt; sister-in-law Doris (Howard) Bechthold; and brother in law Herbert Blundell.

Ida Mae is survived by her son James (Sue) Light of Corpus Christi, Texas, daughter Beverly (David) Henneke of New Braunfels, Texas and daughter-in-law Connie Light of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Ross (Angela) Light of South Hamilton, Massachusetts, Ginny Pittman of Sandia, Texas, Christie (Chris) Neumann of New Braunfels, Texas, Carrie (Garrick) Mabrito of New Braunfels, Texas, and Aleisha (McClane) Dickey of Tyler, Texas; great-grandchildren Sky, Meadow, and Lake Light, Brancen and Trisha Pittman, Kevin and Callie Belcher, and Haleigh Mabrito; sister, and best friend, Ruth Blundell of Rockport, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
