Jay Junior Murray

Jay Junior Murray, age 90, went home to the Lord, on November 29, 2022. He was born on May 5,1932 in Rockford, Michigan to his proud parents Jay and Margaret Murray.

He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18 and served honorably until his discharge in November 1952, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he worked in several fields until settling into a career as a Computer Systems Analyst for the U.S. government at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. He retired after 35 years of service.

He and his wife Marion were married in May,1953 and they raised 5 children, whom he was very proud of and loved with all his heart. Jay instilled a love of the outdoors to his family by taking them on countless camping and boating trips. He was an avid fisherman, participating in hundreds of fishing tournaments over the years. He was a proud member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, American Legion, And Elks Lodge.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Betty.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marion, his brother Mike, his sister Joanne, sons Gerald and wife Juanita, Richard and wife Shelly, daughters Ruthann and husband Jon, Margaret and husband Joel, and his youngest daughter Joanne. He is also survived by grandsons, Walter, Patrick, Martin, Vincent, and Wesley, and granddaughter Alexis, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements for cremation were made per Jay’s wishes, and entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main Street, Alice, TX 78332. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.holmgreenmortuaryinc.com and shared via Holmgreen Mortuary Facebook.

Jay’s remains will be interred on January 23, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX with Christian blessings and Military Honors. Following the funeral there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at VFW Post #3837, 12030 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, TX 78410.

Flowers may be delivered only on the morning of the funeral, January 23, 2023, to the Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
