Joe Jenkins Obituary

Joe Lee “Bean” Jenkins died peacefully at his home with his wife, Dorothy of 67 years, by his side on August 19, 2021 in Alice, TX. He was born on March 14, 1934, in Los Angeles, TX to Marvin Otis and Minnie Lee Jenkins.

Joe was an accomplished athlete, excelling in baseball, football, and basketball. After graduating from Cotulla High School, Joe began working in the oilfield as a driller. His work took him to Mathis, TX, where he met Dorothy, the love of his life. Joe and Dorothy moved to Alice, TX in 1959, where he began to work for Schlumberger Well Services. After retiring from Schlumberger in 1989, he became an avid golfer.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Marvin Otis and Minnie Lee Jenkins, eleven of his siblings, and his in-laws, Alfonce and Mary Hybner.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jenkins; daughter, Carolyn (Jeff) Fields of Alice, TX; sons, Gary (Brenda) Jenkins of Alice, TX and Randy Jenkins (Jaime Vasquez) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Robert (Jamie) Fields of Hallettsville, TX, Claire (Bob) Heath of Wylie, TX; step-grandchildren, Wade (Liz) Pinkston of Stephenville, TX and Adam Pinkston of Austin, TX; sister, Jane Peterson; four great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
