John Scott Schumacher was taken too soon on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the age of 62. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Born October 29, 1959 in Alice, Texas to Monte and Velva Schumacher.
He was raised with his sister, Pamela Schumacher, and both enjoyed spending lots of time with their grandparents learning how to hunt, fish, do woodwork, and mechanics. He was also a Boy Scout member and an avid reader of Popular Mechanics and National Geographic. He graduated from Alice High School in 1977 and was a proud member of the band in which he played the trombone. Throughout his years, he worked many places in and around Corpus Christi and made many friends that he loved like family. He fulfilled one of his long-time dreams of living on the family farm in Orange Grove, where he enjoyed raising chickens, geese, and guineas and other hobbies of the country- life.
On the outside Scott was a tall, bearded, Harley-riding, tough man and was often described as intimidating by those who didn’t know him. To those who knew him, he was always smiling, laughing, and caring deeply about everyone around him. Scott got his first motorcycle at a young age and enjoyed riding for many years. He was a long-time member of the Tradesman MC Nueces County. He also was devoted to the Toys for Tots charity and spent 37 years helping organize a motorcycle run and BBQ event to benefit the charity and children of South Texas. You could also find Scott at the Texas Renaissance Festival during the fall, smoking a cigar and enjoying the atmosphere. He will be remembered as a proud American who was always willing to help friends and family alike.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Welmont John Schumacher; grandparents, Fisher and Daisy Norwood, and Helmuth and Marie Schumacher.
He is survived by his mother, Velva Gordon; sister, Pam (Larry) Johnson of George West, TX; niece, Kelsey (Tyler) Wright; great niece, Leighton of Stephenville, TX and niece, Jacy (Joseph) Swann of Wylie, TX.
