Johnye Howard

Johnye Howard passed from this life at age 86 on Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Alice, Texas. She was born on March 15, 1936 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Dorothy and John Henry Clemons. Johnye was a resident of Alice, Texas for the past 67 years and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Johnye was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and John Henry Clemons and her husband of 63 years, Clarence Howard.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Clare Howard and Lynn Howard Wilkins, and sons, Alan Howard and wife Jutta, and Terry Howard, as well as by grandchildren, Marissa Johnson and husband Jason, Kelsey Martin and husband Connor, and Travis Wilkins, and great granddaughter, Journi Rose Johnson.

She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Wayland Howard and wife Brenda, nephew, Dr. Jeffrey Howard, and niece Cheryl Goin and husband Jay, and great nieces, Natalie Goin and Kelsey Goin, and great nephew, Dr. Benjamin Howard.

Johnye graduated from Alice High School in 1954 and married Clarence Howard in 1955. After her children were older, Johnye began working for Alice Independent School District in the administrative offices and as High School Athletic Department secretary. She was well-known in the community during football season for managing regular season and playoff ticket sales and retired after 20 years of service.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary with a Burial to follow at Alice Cemetery.
