Jose O. Gonzales, Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Saturday, July 24, 2021. He was born on February 2, 1948, in Mathis, Texas to Martin Gonzales and Santos Ortiz Gonzales.
Jose attended Del Mar College on June 21, 1968, where he earned an Automotive Mechanics Degree. He went on to work for Gulf Star Foundry for 28 years as Plant Foreman. Jose mastered many crafts such as; Master Welder, fabricator, farming, ranching, carpentry, and he was a perfectionist in all his endeavors.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Santos O. Gonzales; brothers, Gilbert Gonzales, Sr., and Martin Gonzales, Jr.; sisters, Ercilia Flores and Aurora Gonzalez; son-in-law, Abel Perez; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Hernandez, Alfredo Sanchez, and Pablo Gonzales, and sisters-in-law, Natividad Gonzales and Lucy Gonzales.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 years, Eloisa M. Gonzales of Orange Grove, Texas; son, Jose (Jennifer) Gonzales, Jr. of Orange Grove, Texas; daughters, Elizabeth (Edward) Gonzales of Sandia, Texas and Yvonne (Leonard) Garza of Calallen, Texas; grandchildren, Mathew (Danielle) Garza, Jessica (Kevin) Silva, Kaygan Garcia, Tanner Garcia (Jinnell Olivo), Charles Gonzales, and Mariah Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Hudson Mathew Garcia, Carter Beck Garcia, and Kaycee Elizabeth Silva; sisters, Lydia Gonzales of Flour Bluff, Texas, Odelia Sanchez of Orange Grove, Texas, Carolina Garcia of Orange Grove, Texas, Ernestina (Robert) Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Herminia Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lupe (Candelario) Vasquez of Sandia, Texas; and numerous loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:30 AM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Christian Burial will follow at Pro Union Cemetery in Orange Grove, TX.
