Jose Roel Perez

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jose “Joe” Roel Perez, 71, on Tuesday March 18, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Alfredo Perez Sr and Clara Gamez Perez on January 3, 1954 in Mathis, Texas. 

Jose affectionately known as Uncle Joe or Grandpa Joe worked at Fesco for over 40+ years until his retirement in 2020. He enjoyed dancing, hanging out at Ruben, “Pollo’s Place”, going on cruises, gambling, playing golf and attending BBQ cook-offs. He loved to visit his family in San Antonio, face-timing with his grandchildren and having his weekly trips “around the world” as he would like to say. He was known to have a great sense of humor; he was the life of the party and was known to be kind, generous and pleasant to all around. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo Perez Sr. and Clara Gamez Perez, his siblings, Adulfo Perez, Rebecca Chapa, Olivia Davila, Nativida Perez, and Gloria Perez.

Loved ones left to honor and cherish his memory, include his daughter, Leslie Perez-Lara (Tony); grandchildren, Joshua Hid, Lauren Hid, Brooke Lara, Aniston Lara; great-grandchildren, Brayden Lara, and Emilio Barrows, and siblings; Abel Perez, Alfredo Perez Jr. (Maria) and Felix Perez and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:30 AM at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, TX 78332. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, followed by a Christian Burial at Pro-Union Cemetery at Orange Grove, Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
