Joy Beth Custer

Joy Beth Custer (Adams) passed away at Focused Care Hospice in Orange, Texas on June 28, 2024, at the age of 74.

Joy was born September 9, 1949 in Mathis, Texas to Bernard Adams, Jr. and Vivian Turner. Joy loved to read, bake, and spend time with family especially her grandchildren.  Her favorite activity was birdwatching.  Joy could tell you the name of every bird she had ever seen but her favorite was the cardinal which she called Red Birds.

Joy was a 1967 graduate of Ben Bolt – Palito Blanco high school. Joy was a lifelong house wife and raised her two children and helped raise 3 of her grandchildren.  Her and her sister Nanci owned a bakery in Orange Grove TX.  

Joy is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nanci, and nephew, Bernard “Bubba” Adams, IV.

Joy is survived by her brother, Bernard Adams, III and sister- in- law, Connie and their daughter Kami Alaniz and grandson, Brandon Alaniz. Her Son, Allen (Michelle) Custer, and family. Joy’s daughter, Ronda (EJ) Garcia and their children, Shelbi (Ron) Bryant, Rylan and Hayden, and Great Grandchildren Bentley and Braxton. 

Visitation and viewing will be at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice, Texas on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Adams Ranch Cemetery in Alfred, Texas.

Pallbearers will be E.J. Garcia, Ronnie Custer, Brandon Alanis, Rob Adams, Lloyd Gorbet, Ron Trehan, and Richard Berry.

Services are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
