Juan G. Rodriguez, Jr.

Juan G. Rodriguez, Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Saturday, June 26, 2021. He was born on February 10, 1941, in Edna, Texas to Juan T. Rodriguez, Sr. and Erlinda Garcia.

Juan spent many years on the road doing what he loved and knew best, driving. He started his truck driving career with Harkin’s Drilling Company at an entry level position and quickly rose up through the ranks in the oilfield business. Juan later moved on to work with Brick and Tile Company and drove cross country where he was able to continue to do what he loved.

Juan enjoyed playing pool, working in his yard (which he took a lot of pride in) meeting his friends for their morning coffee at various local restaurants, and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. Juan had a great sense of humor. He knew how to treat people and show the upmost respect for others, especially his wife’s family. He always showed them how much he loved them.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Juan T. Rodriguez, Sr. and Erlinda G. Rodriguez.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 56 years, Arlene Rodriguez of Alice, TX; daughters, Nori (Mark) Thompson of Victoria, TX and Rachel (Kelly) Koenning of Alice, TX; grandson, Christian Stine of Austin, TX; sisters, Genoveva “Jeanie” (Robert) Watrin of Grand Prairie, TX, Linda (Salomon) Hernandez of Cedar Hill, TX, and Eloisa Rodriguez of Grand Prairie, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, TX. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. All services will conclude at the church.
