Juan Antonio "Tony" Garza Obituary

Juan Antonio “Tony” Garza, Jr., age 63, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday,
January 7, 2026. He was born on May 28, 1962 in Alice, Texas.

Tony was a loving son, spouse, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Above all, he loved his family
deeply—especially his sons, grandchildren, and siblings. He cherished every moment spent with
them and took great pride in supporting and guiding those he loved.

A skilled mechanic, Tony loved working with his hands and fixing anything that needed repair. He
especially loved finding vehicles in need of extensive work and transforming them from “trash to
treasure,” bringing them back to life with his mechanical skills and vivid creativity. Many of which he
would paint in his favorite color, candy apple red. He also had a natural gift for teaching and
mentoring, always willing to take someone under his wing and share his knowledge and experience.

Though he worked hard, Tony also knew how to enjoy life. He loved being outdoors, especially
fishing, going to the beach, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed listening to music and
watching his grandsons compete in sports. He was the life of the party, effortlessly making friends
with anyone he met, and living each day fully. His laughter, energy, and warmth touched everyone
who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lamar Garza, whom he missed dearly.

He is survived by his father, Antonio Garza; his spouse, Irene Olivares; mother of his sons, Virginia
Estrada; his sons, Juan “Johnny” Antonio (Dorothy Garza) Garza, III, Joseph Adrian Garza, and
Jacob Andres Garza; his grandchildren, Gael Antonio Garza, Cruz Antonio Garza, Noah Garza, and
Maya Garza; and siblings, Sylvia Garza, Maria Elena (Manuel Antonio Peña) Peña, Mary Olson, Elma
(Candido Cantu, III) Cantu, Jose Angel Garza, and Jesus Garza.
