Juanita Canas, age 71, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in Alice, Texas. She was born September 15, 1951 in San Diego, Texas to Antonio and Antonia Canas, Sr.
Jane was a very sweet and loving person. She loved to pray the rosary everyday at 3:00 PM, embroider, watching baseball, especially the Houston Astros, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved to cook her famous fried chicken and sweet tea. She was always cooking for her babies, Ruben and Mark and play Chalupa afterwards.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Antonia Canas, Sr and brother, Antonio “Tony” Canas Jr.
She is survived by two sisters, Carmela (Salamon) Rea of Alice, Texas and Tencha (Tee) Duncan of Nashville, Tennessee; niece that grew up with her, Selma Rea-Perez; nieces, Belinda (Rick) Hernandez and Priscilla (Jose) Tabares; nephews, Salomon (Estella) Rea, Ricky (Nora) Rea, Antonio Canas III, Abelardo (Virginia) Canas Adrian (Cindy Canas and Aaron Canas; great nieces and nephews, Ruben Rodriguez, Mark Anthony (Mindy) Rea, Veronica Vasquez, Kimberley Rea, Alexa Rea- Garcia, Erick Hernandez, Joe Ryan Rea, Abigail Rae Hernandez, Richard Rea, Kaitlin M. Rea, Christopher Ryan Mijares and Lauren Ashley Tabares; great great nieces and nephews, Marky A. Rea, Alexa M. Perez, Evan I. Rea, Josiah A. Rea, Owen L. Mijares, Sloane Martinez, Ayla Gallo, Ezra Cantu, Renee (Christian) Cantu, Stephen Floyd (Monica) Duncan, and Cameron Logan Duncan from Nashville, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. All service will conclude at the church.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mark Anthony Rea, Christopher Mijares, Salomon Rea and Ricky Rea.
