Kathy Karnei Obituary

Kathy Clarke Karnei, 66, passed away on January 23, 2024, in Corpus Christi, after a four-year battle with dementia. Kathy was born on January 10, 1958, in Kingsville to Richard H. and Artie Evelyn Clarke.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 20 years, Kenneth Karnei.

Kathy was a woman of deep faith in the Lord. She taught Sunday school for years at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove. Kathy had a passion for music and attending concerts. She loved trying to learn new instruments, with acoustic guitar and piano being her favorite. Her family was by her side for all her piano recitals. Her hobby was photography – she took so many pictures and printed out every single one! Kathy thrived by the water – any body of water, whether it be drinks and lounging at the beach, fishing and swimming at the lake, or floating the river- she was happiest. Above all, Kathy was the epitome of a devoted wife, Mom, Nana, Sistah, aunt, and friend. She was a giver, a nurturer, and a doer. She never showed up empty- handed, but she always showed up late. She would rush in, wrap you in her arms, and do whatever needed. You could count on her for anything and everything.

She is survived by her daughters, Amber Perrigue (Johnnie Bell) of Corpus Christi and Erin (Frank) Moya of Corpus Christi; one sister, Julie (Jeff) Turcotte, two brothers, Perry (Marsha) Clarke and Richard (Susan) Clarke; six grandchildren, Madison (Sean) Tonnon, Makenna Perrigue, Oliver Bell, Riley, Bradley, and Rowan Moya; one great-granddaughter, Juniper Garcia; and multiple nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a Funeral Service to be held at 2:00 PM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orange Grove, Texas. Christian Burial will follow at Orange Grove Cemetery.
