Leonardo R. Galvan, Jr.

Leonardo Galvan, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 13, 2022 in Alice, Texas. He was born on October 25, 1940 to Leonardo Galvan and Petra Rios in Agua Dulce, Texas.

He was a graduate of Agua Dulce High School and went on to proudly serve his country as an Army Veteran in Germany. Upon his return he joined the oilfield and worked for 30 years in various companies and in numerous capacities. He was a Super Intendant for J3 Drilling, McCrimmon, Harkins, and Flournoy just to name a few. He retired form J. I. Hailey Inc. as a heavy machinery mechanic.

Leonardo loved visiting his family and attending sporting events; especially baseball. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and was known to everyone as “Grandpa”. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his family, baseball family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo and Petra Rios Galvan; son, Adrian Galvan; grandchild, Nicholas Price; and siblings, Carmen (Fermin) Del Toro and Lorenzo (Lucia) Galvan.

Leonardo is survived by his children, Steven (Belinda) Galvan, Leonard (Esther) Galvan III both of Alice, Texas and Veronica Galvan of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Leonard (Iris) IV, Kimberly Galvan both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kirsten (Oscar) Lozano, Michael (Marina) Galvan, Ryan Galvan, John (Sabrina) Garcia, Victoria (Alex) Garcia all of Alice, Texas, Tyler Price, Marcus Price both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Amanda Galvan, John David Escoto, Jacob Perez, Mark Daniel Galvan, Maegan Galvan all of Alice, Texas, Kendra Garcia of Tilden Texas, Nicholas Villarreal and Noah Villarreal both of Alice, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Janie (Roger) Revilla, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas; step-sons, Danny (Dee Dee) Galvan of Alice, TX, David (Mary) Galvan and numerous nephews, and nieces.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on June 16, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. A Christian Burial with Military Honors will follow at New Collins Cemetery Alice, Texas.
