Linda Keim Obituary

Linda Keim, age 80, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Linda Lou Linn in Norfolk, Virginia on April 26, 1942 to Arthur Linn and her beloved “Mama,” Hazel (Roughton) Linn.

Linda attended college in Charleston, South Carolina, where she earned an associate’s degree in business. While in Charleston she met and married Frank Cumberland of Kingsville, Texas in 1962. Linda and Frank had three daughters.

In 1972, Linda obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing, followed later by a master’s degree in counseling. She also proudly served her country as a nurse in the Army Reserve where she achieved the rank of Major. She worked for many years as a psychiatric nurse, a hospice nurse and Director, a nursing home administrator, and the director of an assisted living facility.

After Frank’s death in 1985, Linda met and married Steve Keim in 1988. Linda and Steve lived in Arizona until Steve’s retirement, and eventually resettled to Texas. Linda’s home was her domain, and every room in her home was a testament to her eye for beauty. She also took great pride in the landscape, creating a peaceful, serene environment around the home filled with birds, flowers, butterflies, and the sound of her many wind chimes.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Steve; sister, Patti Stephenson; daughters, Stacy (Larry) Bustamante, Shannon (John Dicker) Cumberland, and Cathy (Greg Morre) Cumberland; stepson, Travis Keim (Sara), seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Linda’s cheerful optimism, prodigious energy, and gracious kindness gave her a special sparkle. She exemplified someone who enjoyed life to the fullest. Her laughter and heartfelt enthusiasm brightened the lives of those who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered for the wonderful person she was. We know she is resting peacefully, and the wind chimes bring us her song.
