Louis Salinas, born on 12/3/1937 in Asherton, TX, passed away on 1/25/2026. He was a profound patriot and loved his country. Louis served 3 1/2 years in the Navy followed by 20 1/2 years in the Coast Guard before he retired. His second love was his family. His 3rd and newest love was for God. He was recently baptized and became a member of ACTS Church in Alice, TX. He was an aviation mechanic and airplane safety inspector, and did search and rescue. After retiring he drove big rigs for the oil industry and worked for Boeing. Louis was a Patriot Guard Rider in his later years. Louis was kind hearted, old fashioned, sometimes stubborn in his ways, but also had a playful nature. He was smart, creative, an excellent carpenter, and handyman. He loved his family and friends and riding his Harley.
Louis is preceded in death by his wife Loretta Sue Salinas, his first wife, Barbara Bates Salinas, parents Maximiliano and Manuela Salinas, his sisters Emma Aday, Alice Ferguson, Julie Giaconi and Conchita Salinas and his brother, Robert Salinas.
He is survived by his brother Max Salinas of Houston, his children Paul Salinas, Julie Salinas, Patty (Mark) Alvarado, Daniel Salinas (Ron Eich), Teresa Martinez, and Max (Amy) Salinas, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary, Alice, TX. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX.
