In Loving Memory
Lucille Mildred Kirchoff went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2025 at the age of 101 years 2 months and 2 days. Lucille was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt and Friend.
She was a Lutheran and as of her death she was one of the oldest living members of the First Lutheran Church in Orange Grove. Lucile taught Sunday School, Bible School, Served on the Altar Guild, Care Committee and was a member of the Rebecca Circle. Lucille was born on January 4,1924 in Orange Grove, Texas
She was preceded in death by her husband the love of her life", M. W. 'Scotty" Kirchoff, Her Mother Francis Anderker Frerichs, Her Sister Francis Zapalac, Her Sister-ln-Law Thelma Herschap along with numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Lucille is survived by Her son Lynn and his wife Linda, Her Granddaughter Kari and her husband Joshua Barmettler, Her Great-Granddaughter Charlotte 'Charli" Barmettler. She is also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews and Her extended family "The Herschap Clan" who call her "Aunt Cille".
Lucille was raised in Orange Grove; Texas and She graduated with the OGHS Class of 1941. After graduation She went to work for Western Union in Corpus Christi, Texas
In 1943 She married the "love of Her life M. W. "Scotty" Kirchoff" in Laredo, Texas where he was stationed at the time during WWII. They then traveled to various locations in the western United States as Scotty was transferred, all the while she worked for Western Union.
Eventually they got back to Texas where they lived on a ranch near Fredericksburg, where they were blessed with their son Lynn and soon after returned to Orange Grove.
Back in Orange Grove Lucille was employed by the Orange Grove Independent School District as an Instructional Teacher's Aide In grades 1 — 6 where she taught Life Skills and Reading for 30 years until her retirement in 2000. All the while she worked for OGISD she kept the books for her husband Scotty's construction business, along with their ranching and farming businesses. Along the way Lynn married Linda Shilling in 1970, they had her Granddaughter Kari (Karebear) in 1981 who was her best buddy. t'Gramsbear" and "Karebear" travelled around visiting relatives during the summer. They loved talking about their escapades! In 2010 Kari became the wife of Joshua Barmettler. (Josh became the Grandson she never had) and along came her Great-Granddaughter Charlotte Gray Kirchoff Barmettler (Charli) in 2017, who was Grams' "Snickerdoodle". In 2019 she moved to Bryan with Lynn and Linda to be close to Kari, Josh and Charli. She was there with them until she went to be with the Lord.
She enjoyed her friends and Family, she loved watching Lynn play for the Orange Grove Bulldogs (Never missed a game) and she loved life!!!

6) I Love helping with our Businesses (Bulldozers, Cattle Ranching and Farming 7) I Love Deer Hunting!!!! (Riding in the pick-up with Scotty where it was warm!!!)
Thank the Lord for everyone that made her life complete.
And a big thanks to all the wonderful Nurses, Nurse's Aides, Social Workers, and Clergy with Traditions Health and Traditions Hospice Care Bryan/College Station that made Lucille comfortable in her last days.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church 600 Dibrell St, Orange Grove, TX. Christian Burial will be at 3:00 PM at Sons of Hermann.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
