Mae Gwosdz, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Orange Grove, TX. She was born on June 2, 1931 in Orange Grove, TX to Henry Buschelmann and Elsie Wostal Buschelmann.
Mae was an active member of her community and church; her caring and unselfish nature allowed her to participate in various roles at the church. She was a long-time member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, she loved to cook, travel, enjoyed crafting, and playing dominoes. Mae hosted all the holidays in her home and looked forward to cooking for her family.
Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Marvin Gwosdz; parents, Henry and Elsie Wostal Buschelmann; and sister, Lou Ella Hinze.
Mae is survived by her loving children, Marilyn Gwosdz of San Antonio, TX, Maxine Cawyer of Corpus Christi, TX, and Martin (Laura) Gwosdz of Orange Grove, TX; grandchildren, Heather (Israel) Garcia, Greg (Kim) Cawyer, Morgan (Bryce) Osborn, and Amanda Gwosdz; great-grandchildren, Caleb (Kendra) Cawyer, Trace Cawyer, Cody Garcia, Misty Garcia, and Clay Osborn; great-great grandchildren, Kenlee Cawyer and Kamdyn Cawyer; and sister, Nell Gwosdz.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 10, 2021 with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, TX. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, celebrant, Father Patrick Donohoe. A Christian Burial will follow at St. John of the Cross Cemetery in Orange Grove, TX.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please make all donations to St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.
