Mardella Sharon (Hallemann) Laskowski

Mardella Sharon (Hallemann) Laskowski, age 77, passed away on July 25, 2023, at Bay Area Medical Center with Sandra, Neil, and Elva to see her peaceful transition to her heavenly home. She was born on October 31, 1945, to Victor and Nina (Wolf) Hallemann in Alice. 

 She attended school in Alice and graduated from William Adams in 1964.  She attended Texas A & I.  She met Alvin Laskowski in August 1964 and married Oct. 5, 1968.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and honorary grandmother. She loved sewing, quilting, and making items for others. She enjoyed seeing & meeting people when she was out around Alice with Elva.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband Alvin, and brothers-in-law, Butch Reinke and Albert Laskowski. 

Left to treasure her memory are her children: daughter, Sandra of Victoria, son, Neil & Tania of Guanajuato, Mexico and daughter from another mother/caregiver, Elva Cabrera.  She is survived by her siblings: sister, Vicky Reinke and brother, Duane Hallemann.  She leaves behind sisters-in-law, Carolyn Seidel and Marilyn Shockley. Thinking of her are her nieces and nephews: Roxanne (Randall) Moczygemba, Renee (Edwin) Moczygemba, Rose (Jeremy) Kader, Teneille (Josh) Ripple, Rachel (Jason) Bade, Ronnie (Sherri) Howard, Brett (Anne) Reinke, Alan (Bethany) Laskowski, Rick Seidel, Ron Seidel, and Joe Roberts, 6 great nieces, 10 great nephews, and 1 great great nephew. 

We would like to thank the nurses of Christus Spohn-Alice ICU and 2nd Floor, the Rehab Staff of PAM Corpus, Premiere Alice, the 3rd Floor Staff of PAM LTACH Corpus, and finally, the ICU Staff of Bay Area and Opus Hospice. 

We would like to thank everyone for their calls and messages.  It means so much to us to see the outpouring of love for us and our mother.  We would be honored to see you and hear your stories. We ask that you please dress comfortably for the service & visitation.  Mardella would be concerned about the weather & heat, so no suits or ties – unless you feel the need! 

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary. She would be honored by your presence and stories to her children. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a life-long member who was baptized, confirmed, married, and cherished there. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, where she will be laid next to our dad, her parents, and grandparents. 

Please join the family for a light meal at the church afterwards.  Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
